Auto Point Lead

$ 2.00

Pencils have never been filled with lead. Never. According to Howard J. Bennett of the Washington Post, the term “pencil lead” comes from the writing devices used by the Ancient Romans to indent the wax tablets used for markings. In the 16th century, great graphite deposits were discovered in England, and because the elemental knowledge was understandably limited, it was assumed graphite was a form of lead. It wasn't. I guess I should apologize to Dianna Michelson for “giving me lead poisoning” when she poked me with her graphite-cored pencil in 5th grade.
